Therapeutic process

“There is something so special about a relationship that creates so much safety that you no longer need to pretend to be someone you are not.”

-Vienna Pharaon

I specialize in providing mindfulness-based, emotion-focused therapy to help treat addiction, trauma, anxiety, mood dysregulation and self-worth issues. You can expect to arrive to a session and be treated with respect and compassion, no matter what issue you’re bringing into the therapy room. I prefer to work with young adults and adults- both men and women.

I place our relationship at the forefront of the counseling process. I believe that a relationship that embodies trust and respect, has the capacity to deeply heal. Through a mindfulness-based perspective, I enjoy working with those suffering from self-medicating behaviors, self-esteem issues, depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, and life-transitions.Finding the right fit with a counselor can be difficult, so I encourage you to reach out to me and help me understand your needs as a client.

How do you know if you’re ready for therapy?

A common misconception about therapy is that you begin when aspects of your life have become unmanageable. Although it’s commendable to seek out help when things get rough, we should normalize seeking out therapy as a preventative measure. In other words- we should seek out therapy to learn new skills and get insight into how your thoughts create our reality before the big problems even arise.

Above all else, you will be met with respect and empathy. I love this video narrated by Brene Brown on the importance of empathy and connection:
